December 21, 2011: Nevada Gaming Commission Approves Online Poker Regulations
Leave it to the good folks in lovely Las Vegas to take the lead in legalizing online poker. Other states are talking about it but Nevada, with its gambling friendly public institutions is putting real laws into effect now.
Nevada is already accepting applications for online gaming licenses and companies are lining up to get them. The new regulations are designed, in part, to prevent the kind of wholesale spending of player funds that caused the DOJ to label online poker a “global ponzi scheme.”
Nevada’s biggest requirement was that any company that want a Nevada license will have to be based in Nevada.
