GAMBLING ADVERTISING TO BE RESTRICTED IN THE UKRAINE Proposals open to discussion until July 9 Official notifications on the Ministry of Finance for the Ukraine website this week indicate an imminent clamp down on gambling advertising and casino registration in the Eastern European country. The Ministry has opened for public discussion a proposal to better control gambling in the Ukraine, with a deadline for responses of July 9. The government proposal defines minimum share capital for the registration of casinos in local currency equivalent to Euro 1 million, and specifies the kinds of gambling allowed in Ukraine, along with tight restrictions on the advertisement of gambling by radio or television; on the front and last pages of magazines and other periodicals; indoor and outdoor displays; ads on vehicles and any measures which may have the appearance or character of advertising.
Suggested penalties for violations are a tough US dollar equivalent of $50 000.
