Social media shares are an increasingly valuable commodity and social media sites are the best places to develop them. Even better, social media sites like Twitter are still one of the best marketing values available. (Most of them are still free, though Facebook is steering towards a pay-model for businesses.)
Simply sending out four or five Tweets a day and posting links to your content on Google + can really drive a lot of traffic. And thanks to free-to-use apps like Tweet Deck, you can schedule your Tweets to go out at any time of the day.
In terms of bang-for-your buck, social media is just tough to beat.
