FanDuel is looking to repeat the success of its recent NFL Sunday Ticket promotion with a similar promotion offering new and existing players three months of the NBA League Pass for the price of a $5 wager. It’s an offer that’s certain to spark plenty of new sign-ups and is also likely to launch a promotional arms race as big name operators compete for new players.
Under the terms of the deal, players who place a $5 wager on any NBA game can receive three free months of the NBA League Pass, which allows them to watch any NBA game played in any market. New players will also qualify for $200 in bonus bets, though that offer is not available to existing players. Players who already subscribe to the service will be offered a different bonus bet package.
Mike Raffensperger, FanDuel’s Chief Commercial Officer, touted the deal in a recent press release saying, “FanDuel is committed to offering the top sportsbook product on the market and elevating the entertainment experience for fans this NBA season. This year, we’re leveraging the power of our NBA partnership and our industry-leading platform to create an ecosystem where fans can bet on pivotal moments in a game in real-time and watch to see the results, elevating their sports betting and entertainment experience.”
Given that the NBA’s 30 teams play an 80-game season that stretches out over five months, that’s a lot of potential wagering opportunities for fans and FanDuel alike. FanDuel is clearly banking on that prospect and, given the success of a nearly identical offer for the NFL Sunday ticket, the NBA League Pass offer seems like a no-brainer.
