April 23, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — With just a few weeks to go before play begins, Everest Poker has announced the 204 online players who qualified for the third annual Everest Poker European Cup (EPEC), to take place on the island of Sardinia next month.
The company noted the fact that its qualifiers were trending younger over the years, an industry statistic corroborated by market studies performed by Jupiter Research. Almost 60 percent of the 204 finalists are under trhe age of 34.
“The EPEC Finale is designed to give amateur poker players their first taste of a major live tournament with players qualifying from all over Europe,” stated the company in a news release. “But, it is Sweden who has won the first two titles. We also have entrants from Poland, Hungary and Finland for the first year, the French are best represented with 54 players.”
