Germany’s heavily favored to win the Cup and guys like Bender’s just 24-years-old and is the midst of a three-year-contract with Bayer Leverkusen. Lately though, he’s making a serious name for himself in the Euro 2012 Tournament. He’s proven himself to be a reliable late game replacement for the German and has performed admirably when called to action.
When Bender finally got to start against Denmark in group play, he delivered the game winning goal, putting Germany on top 2-1. Expect to see a lot more of Bender in the big leagues after the Euro Cup’s been put to bed.
