Bwin.party Management Shake-Up

Jeffrey Haas (left)

The executives at Bwin.party and PokerStars are playing a game of musical chairs that could help Bwin recapture its flagging poker fortunes.
According to a report in EGR Magazine, poker industry veteran Jeffrey Haas will step into the position of Head of Online Poker at Bwin.party in the next weeks. Haas has been with Rational Group/PokerStars for the last five years where he’s held positions including, Director of Strategy & Business Development, New Platforms and had a big hand in developing mobile strategies.
Haas should have no trouble getting up to speed at Bwin.party, where he once served as a Product Manager.
Chris Welch, Bwin.party’s current Head of Online poker is stepping down after a less-than-thrilling Q2 earnings report. (Though much of the blame for that is being put on some massive new taxes in the German market.)
Despite his departure, Welch’s two-year tenure with Bwin.party was largely successful. During that time he helped shore up the PartyPoker brand and was heavily involved in long-term strategic planning.
