Bwin Named Top Gaming Operator

December 2, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Crowning an incredible year for Austrian-based online sports betting and gambling powerhouse Bwin Interactive, the company has been named the “Operator of the Year” at the recently concluded EGR Awards.

And, in a testament to its growing economic stature in Europe, Bwin is now also listed on ResearchandMarkets.com. The site will feature regular reports containing the company’s business forecasts, growth possibilities, and other key investment information.

“The acquisition of Gioco Digitale is a logical continuation of bwin’s strategy of growing its regional market shares in progressively regulated European markets even by taking over local providers if necessary,” ResearchandMarkets.com stated in its announcement. “For the publisher, this is quite a surprise, because Italy has had one of the most lucrative legislations for the gaming market.” (Read the announcement here.)

Meanwhile, taking home top honors at EGR Live shows that the Bwin brand has significant strength against powerful rivals such as PartyGaming and Betfair.

“It's great that Bwin has won this award after ten years,” Bwin UK Manager Nic Wenn said upon receiving the award. “I think Bwin have carried on doing what Bwin have been doing, leading the way in opening new territories in Europe and leading the technological advance in our industry."

The company was praised specifically for its “consistency, leadership, scale, the strength of the brand, for promoting responsible gaming, and for showing continued, consisted leadership,” according to eGaming Review, the gaming news source behind EGR Live. (Read more here.)
