Following the success of its inaugural stop in Manchester last weekend, leading poker magazine Bluff Europe has announced that Birmingham's Broadway Casino will be next in line to host its Poker Academy lecture series.
On May 9, amateur players can ‘learn from the pros' as experts Paul ‘Action' Jackson and Dave ‘Devilfish' Ulliott pass on their knowledge and wisdom assisted by poker author Alex Rousso.
The one-day event will consist of three hours of interactive lectures followed by four hours of tournament play with direct supervision from a professional player. The first lecture series will cover some of the most crucial concepts in professional poker such as its fundamental theory alongside luck and variance, dealing with defeat and bankroll management.
After all the talking, attendees can take part in a £25 no-limit hold'em tournament that will see Ulliot, Rousso and Jackson captaining separate teams. They will offer personal advise to players during the game with the lucky finalists able to pit their wits against Ulliott and Jackson at a final table.
"This is a great opportunity for intermediate players to come along and improve their game by learning from some of the best players in the country and, hopefully, have a lot of fun at the same time," said Rousso.
Located in Birmingham's Broadway Plaza entertainment hub just minutes from the city centre, the Broadway Casino offers one of the UK's finest card rooms. It hosts regular tournaments and cash games and also boasts sumptuous interiors and a fantastic gaming area.
After Birmingham, the Poker Academy moves on to Dublin's Sporting Emporium on May 16 where Ulliott will serve as the resident pro. From there, Phil ‘The Unabomber' Laak takes over for the final date, which is scheduled for London's Casino at the Empire on May 23.
