France, Spain and Germany Balk
Despite some gentle nudging from the European Union, a whole bunch of central European states are balking at the prospect of true gambling liberalization. Both Germany and Spain have talked a good game about opening up their government gambling monopolies to free market competition, but their actions tell a different story.
In Germany, the government has repeatedly thrown up bureaucratic roadblocks in front of legitimate igaming companies looking to do business within its borders. In Spain, governmental foot dragging during the long and drawn out licensing process sent operators heading for greener pastures.
With little incentive to share the wealth, expect to see this story repeat itself in 2015.
