European Liberalization Efforts
If we learned one thing in 2013, it was that Western European governments just aren’t all that interested in EU-mandated gambling liberalization.
In places like Spain, Germany, Greece and, to a lesser extent, France and Italy, bureaucrats dragged their feet, threw up obstacles and generally did everything they could to prevent competition from entering the market.
Though these efforts hurt operators and generally impeded the flow of commerce, the masters of red tape didn’t seem to care much one way or the other.
