BetMGM Signs on as AP’s Official Odds Provider

In the dark days before regulated sports betting was legalized in the United States, there was a glaring anomaly that exposed the absurdity of the ban. Every day, every daily newspaper across the country ran a small section of betting odds that was collectively known as the “Vegas Line”. That line served as the official line for unregulated bookmakers and seems completely anachronistic in today’s world of information-on-demand; only it’s not irrelevant at all.

This week, BetMGM signed an agreement with the Associated Press naming it as the news organization’s official betting odds provider. BetMGM is replacing FanDuel in the role the company has held since 2021. The deal is pretty straightforward with the AP agreeing to run BetMGM’s odds and to use them as the official source for betting odds in game previews and other content.

Matt Prevost, BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer touted the deal in a recent press release saying, “It is a special opportunity for BetMGM to align with The Associated Press, a leading global news source that billions around the world rely on for the most up-to-date coverage. Being a trusted resource within that forum is an important connection to expand our reach, and we look forward to providing content that enhances the organization’s coverage.”

Over at the Associated Press, Barry Bedlan, director of global text and commercial products was similarly enthusiastic saying, “People want trustworthy sports betting information, and we are pleased to work with BetMGM to provide a dependable and credible reference point for our customers and audiences.”

Associated Press currently reaches around 44 million users every month.
