When it comes to grabbing a piece of the burgeoning US sports betting market, BetMGM is betting that no market, no matter how small, is worth ignoring. So it is that the gaming giant is partnering with two South Dakota operators to bring mobile and retail sports betting to the sparsely populated US State of South Dakota.
According to a recent press release, BetMGM is entering into an an exclusive partnership with Liv Hospitality’s Tin Lizzie Gaming Resort and Cadillac Jack’s Gaming Resort, both of which are located in Deadwood.
While South Dakota isn’t a very big market, the state only has about 885,000 residents, it’s a piece of the pie that BetMGM is very interested in consuming. Speaking via press release, Adam Greenblatt, BetMGM Chief Executive Officer commented on the company’s South Dakota deal saying, “Liv Hospitality’s prime resort locations in Deadwood make it an ideal partner for us. Together, we look forward to bringing the BetMGM sports betting experience to South Dakota sports fans.”
Caleb Arceneaux, Chief Executive Officer of Liv Hospitality, was similarly enthusiastic saying, “BetMGM is an outstanding organization that brings credibility to our new sports betting offerings. Visitors now have another reason to come to Deadwood, while enjoying the many other entertainment opportunities at our resorts.”
South Dakota’s gaming industry is likely looking forward to the addition of mobile sports betting not just for the revenue it’s going to generate but as a way to help heal the wounds inflicted by last year’s pandemic closures.
