From the moment it was introduced in 1996, it was clear that the Wheel of Fortune slot machine was a bit of marketing genius. Now that genius is being augmented with a crossover promotional celebrating Wheel of Fortune’s 8,000th episode with a Nightly Progressive Jackpot that’s integrated into the show.
During the week of May 20-24, the iconic Wheel of Fortune wheel will include a BetMGM-branded Double Jackpot wedge. Any contestant who lands on that wedge, and wins the nightly bonus round, will win double the amount in the jackpot. That number increases every night that it’s not won and could get very large over the course of the week. Adding to the promotional blitz will be BetMGM logos plastered on strategic locations across the board.
The Nightly Progressive Jackpot marks a real coming out party for the long relationship between the wildly popular TV and the wildly popular slot machine – which is rarely mentioned on air.
BetMGM’s CEO Adam Greenblatt commented on the product placement deal recently saying, “BetMGM is honored to join Wheel of Fortune during this milestone week and be a part of a game show that has earned a place in American television history. Big Money Week is a great collaboration, giving contestants and viewers at home the opportunity to experience the excitement of a progressive jackpot.”
In March of last year, BetMGM introduced a Wheel of Fortune-themed online casino in New Jersey in the New Jersey market, as well as a Wheel of Fortune Triple Extreme Spin feature on its branded games.
