Changing the Rules
One trend we weren’t thrilled about in 2012 was the growing number of operators who retroactively change T&C agreements, steal players, and otherwise change the rules of the affiliate game.
We wish this trend was confined to shady, fly-by-night outfits operating out of cargo containers in Costa Rica, but it’s not. This year we saw large, and largely respected, companies like Ladbrokes pull these shenanigans and that’s really disappointing.
Affiliate marketing is a business that’s built largely on trust and big time operators pull the rug out from their partners are violating that trust in a big way.
We don’t see this trend changing anytime soon, but checking in regularly with affiliate forums and advocacy sites can help you stay ahead of trouble.
