From the nonstop nightlife and creative booths to the gorgeous weather and fun loving attendees, “Caliente!” was the phrase that best described the Barcelona Affiliate Conference held last weekend.
Our Business Development team, Brooke Cole and Allan Stone, were in Barcelona to learn about the latest trends and opportunities in the online gambling industry. But who are we kidding? They were there to party, too!
Industry Trends
The best part about the conference? Allan said, “It was a small show, which was great because we could have better conversations with our affiliates. It was also great to see Brooke’s Affiliate Learning Session.”
That’s right. Our own Brooke Cole led an informational session at BAC about how to minimize your financial exposure, covering topics like new partnerships and commission structures.) “It was very informative for the affiliates, based on their positive responses,” Allan said.
One of the biggest discussion points at BAC was binary options—a financial trading option where the payoff is either fixed or nonexistent. Casino affiliates were buzzing about how they plan to use binary options to hedge their casino traffic.
The meetings were helpful, productive and informative, as were the sponsored booths. There have been rumblings on the Internet that Paddy Power had one of the best booths in the exhibit hall, complete with unlimited Guinness on tap. CAP Forum Moderator Rak agrees that the conference hall was “el supremo.”
Party Time
Let’s get serious, though. The CAP team wasn’t just there to get the latest and greatest affiliate information. They were there to cut loose in one of Europe’s hottest cities! They hit the party circuit nightly and were able to make some quality connections with affiliates over cervezas and sangria.
Other exciting highlights? DJ Armin Van Buuren at the beachside club, Opium Mar, a wild night at Vetro Club and endless amounts of paella. Allan said, “Barcelona is an amazing city with its beaches, culture and history. The city gives Las Vegas a run for its money as the city that never sleeps. Every night, there were people still waiting for tables in restaurants at 1:30 a.m. and partying in the clubs until daylight!”
When asked to spill the dirt, all Allan said was, “80s softcore porn,” but you’d have to ask him to find out what he means!
