September 17, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — There’s been a lot of rumors circulating over whether or not Argentina is on the verge of legalizing online gambling. The country’s Presidential Cabinet Chief has suggested that such a decision is coming very soon, according to Online Casino Reports.
That official, Anibal Fernandez, has recently stated that the Argentinean government “will soon introduce legislation to regulate online gambling, with the aim of putting a stop to illegal and unregulated offshore casino operators,” according to the article.
Fernandez’s goal is to pass and implement the law with two to three months, although he recognizes that it may actually take up to two years. (Perhaps he’s been studying the U.S. situation … )
Currently, gambling laws in Argentina are determined by each province setting its own laws. That makes regulation difficult, and it creates problems for operators wishing to provide services for the entire country.
