Legal, American Sports Betting
You know what would really boost revenues for sports betting affiliates? How about regulated sports wagering in the United States?
As it stands today, affiliates who play by the rules lose out on massive amounts of revenue to offshore operators who don’t feel obliged to live by the letter of the law. Wouldn’t it be nice if some of that cash trickled back to the US in the form of income tax that could be used to help make America a better place?
While New Jersey’s recent effort to break the sports betting blockade has hit a wall, that wall won’t stand forever.
Just last week NBA Commissioner Adam Silver came out in favor of regulated sports betting in an op-ed piece in the New York Times. Silver is the first big league commish to support sports betting and, with any luck, he won’t be the last.
As far as affiliate fantasies go, legal sports wagering in the US is about as good as it gets.
