Is Shel Adelson getting ready to push hard in the fight for a gaming license in Massachusetts? All signs are pointing that direction. This week Adelson, who is the Chairman of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, renewed the registration of attorney Roger Donoghue as his official lobbyist in Massachusetts.
Donoghue’s legal firm Donoghue Barrett & Singal could be expected to both apply pressure to Massachusetts legislators as well as assist with gaming licensing issues. Attorneys and lobbyists should be keeping busy as they vie for just three gaming licenses from state officials. And once they’ve secured state approval, they’ll need approval from local officials wherever the casino is located; probably somewhere near Springfield.
Adelson is a Massachusetts native and one of the richest men in America. Last month he earned the ire of the online gaming world by openly opposing legalized online poker.
