There’s Going to Be an American Online Poker Boom
Expectations were sky high when the Department of Justice delivered its Christmas gift to online poker players back in 2010.
Plenty of sources (including CAP) were over the moon at the prospect of a new generation of American poker players and the revenue they were expected to bring.
Excitement reached a fever pitch when Ultimate Gaming launched the first, legal online poker site in US history.
Then everything went south.
In the absence of a national player pool, regulated online poker in Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware has pretty much fizzled.
Last month Ultimate Gaming shuttered its poker site due to a lack of business and that doesn’t bode well for the rest of the country.
Suffice to say, “boom” is not a word that accurately describes the American online poker scene.
