GoldenPalace.com at the Olympics
The Olympics is likely the biggest promotional stage of them all. Every two years, athletes from around the world get to one place to compete for the bragging rights of being the best.
Advertisers are attracted to that venue just as much as everyone else. Now, some of those advertisers join the game in a legitimate way, but some try to use various forms of ambush marketing to hijack the events.
In 2004, a man named Ron Bensimhon jumped out of the stands and out of his clothes, revealing a tutu and tights underneath. On his front and back, GoldenPalace.com was written. Bensimhon climbed a three-meter diving board, and belly flopped into the pool.
Of course, he was arrested, and as he says himself, the Greek officials were not all that delicate with him.
