Betting on the Supreme Court of the United States
New Jersey’s Quixotic quest to save Atlantic City rested squarely on getting in front the nine Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States. Unfortunately, the Supremes wanted nothing to do with the Garden State and let the Federal sports betting ban stand in its current form.
Undaunted, NJ lawmakers attempted to circumvent Federal law simply legalizing sports betting all by themselves and passed a bill doing just that earlier this month.
Unfortunately, Jersey Governor Chris Christie has his eyes on the US Presidency and isn’t interested in circumventing Federal law in any way, shape, or form. He vetoed the sports betting bill as soon as it hit his desk.
Betting on the Supreme Court to step and defend commerce in the Garden State was not exactly a sharp bet.
