Google Stays on Top
Internet powerhouses rise and fall (see: AOL, MySpace, Groupon…) because they either grow too fast, or get painted into a corner with no room to grow.
Google has, so far, avoided pitfalls by providing a product people actually use, and keeping a diverse business model.
The search giant isn’t as good at rolling out new products as it is at rolling out new revenue streams.
Just take a look at the Google-friendly Android operating system. While it’s not technically a Google product, it pours money into their coffers by the bucket load.
Google’s insanely deep pockets allow them the luxury of experimenting and developing new businesses at their leisure. With that kind of heft, they’ll be on top for the foreseeable future.
