Be Transparent
As the face of Google’s SEO enforcement arm, Cutts is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
One hand, black hats will be walking all over Google and gumming things up for everyone if Cutts gives out too much information. Keeping too much information to himself sets him up as a bad guy who wants everyone to fail.
When viewed through this prism, we think that Cutts does a decent job of being as transparent as he possible can, given the circumstances.
SEO watchers who really listen to Cutts videos usually have a pretty good idea of what’s the future holds. We’re not suggesting that any of our readers start handing out trade secrets in the forums or anything, but maintaining the highest level of transparency that you possibly can is never a bad idea.
