It ain’t easy being an affiliate…. You’re required to wear so many hats at once and possess many core strengths- whether it’s managing the campaigns you’re promoting, to analyzing the commissions you’re generating- there’s a lot involved and it’s damn hard work!
So many affiliates have shared that a critical ability they had to master in order to take their business to the next level was time management. It’s so simple, it sounds stupid. But, you need to focus on getting the most out of your time in order to best grow your business.
We hear it all the time- there’s so much to do, but so little time. So, I’m coming to the forum to ask, what are the tricks of the trade with time management that really do work? Is it making To Do Lists or setting Daily Schedules? How about tracking your time or working in cycles? Impart your wisdom- what works for you?
September 12, 2011 at 6:35 pm #818459Ivo van BeekMemberI also think the trick to getting everything done correctly and on time is to manage your time in the most orderly manner possible! I don’t know how much time you have on your hands but a good idea is to structure your day in hour slots! For example 9am-10am/check emails , 10am-11am/reply emails , etc etc etc
Obviously it will change from day to day but at least have a structured schedule so you will not get distracted from what you need to do! Also use post it notes to remember important things!
But basically that’s how I work on a daily basis, structuring my day by hours so I don’t get off track!

Such a great approach! However, what can be so hard are those “Showstopper” issues or important must-do’s that just come-up and blindside you and derail you from your schedule.
What do you do to get back on course?
September 13, 2011 at 6:08 pm #818477Ivo van BeekMemberhaha yes I know exactly what you mean! Everyday there is something new on the table but in my experience, I get them done quick and fast and continue with my schedule! If its something that needs to be taken care of then don’t hesitate about it and focus on that new task! Or you could have a time slot that is dedicated to the “showstoppers” . Example 4:00PM -5:00PM Showstopper issues!
But there is lots of different ways to organize yourself! This is the method I use most of the time! Hope it helps Jill!
September 16, 2011 at 3:59 pm #818531bosshoggsMemberSo we started a poll in our blog kind of similar to this topic. To successfully manage your site, there’s a lot to it. So what tasks are you constantly doing that take up the most time in your day-to-day life?

September 16, 2011 at 6:08 pm #818533winner.comMemberOther than checking stats I sit pondering how I’m in the top 10 for a keyword phrase (usually with over 2 million search results on google – so it can’t be that bad) and no one is typing it in

My biggest decision every day is what color shorts to wear when i work from my bed or couch.
Actually the tip is dont get lazy because you work for yourself and dont have a boss looking over your shoulder and telling you what to do.. You need to be sure to have a list and at least get a few things done every day..
September 20, 2011 at 5:42 am #818591AnonymousInactiveI found that one of my biggest time wasters was flitting from one thing to the next and hardly ever finishing a particular task, so at the end of the day I was left with many half tasks done.
My best advice would be to finish 1 task before starting another one.
Even if it means closing down your emails for the duration in order to prevent interruptions.IM, skype is another tool that can become a time waster in some instances.

It is so tough… but it will pay off. Great quote I came across recently:
Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people wont so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.It sounds like you have a pretty disciplined routine, and once you get into something like that you can really start charging through a get productive!

This is all so true, TopBoss. The same thing happens to me all of the time. I find myself becoming more reactive than proactive.
No joke, I start each day with a list of 3-5 must do items that I know can take me to the next step or level with a current project or goal. It’s tough, but if I keep focused on those major priorities and try to keep other things like email, Skype, etc. on the sidelines, I am so much more productive.
