Artificial Intelligence (AI) is coming to the regulated sports betting market in the form of a new chatbot being tested by FanDuel. AceAI, a first of its kinds bot aimed at providing sports betting insights to players, is currently being tested by FanDuel with a small test group of players. If successful, it’s likely to be the cutting edge of an AI revolution that could significantly change the way players and sportsbooks interact.
AceAI was revealed in a recent Forbes article describing the Flutter-owned sports betting giant’s AI strategy in some detail. According to Forbes, AceAI players can query the bot with basic questions such as, “How many passes did Bo Nix complete over his past games?”
FanDuel’s AI product was developed in-house by a team led by FanDuel VP of Product Transformation and Innovation Jon Sadow. Sadow came to FanDuel from Scoop, a carpool app developer. He explained FanDuel’s logic in pursuing AI in the regulated sports betting space saying, “As the leading sportsbook we think there’s an opportunity for us to set the pace on what experiences should look like for customers. We are in a position as a market leader to have a tremendous amount of data that we can actually put into customers’ hands that empower them to make educated decisions.”
FanDuel is currently testing AceAI with about one percent of its player base with plans to roll it out on a larger scale in the future.
There’s no word on whether or not a question like, “Will the Nuggets win by five?” is a query AceAI will handle or not.
