5Dimes Owner Missing and Possibly Kidnapped in Costa Rica

Law enforcement officials in Costa Rica have confirmed that they are looking for 43-year-old William Sean Creighton (AKA Tony) who disappeared and hasn’t been heard from since the end of September. Tony is well known in the online gambling world as the owner of the legendary 5Dimes sportsbook, which drew the template for offshore gaming as we know it today.
Details regarding Tony’s disappearance are slim but the Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) have confirmed that Tony has missing since September 24 and that they are investigating his absence as a possible crime. From there, confirmed information is slim and rumors run rampant.
OIJ Chief Walter Espinoza told The Costa Rica Star that his disappearance is suspicious and that, “We have limited information and we cannot share many details because the life of a person is on the line.”
Other Costa Rican, and American, media outlets were more willing to share unconfirmed details about Tony’s disappearance. Gambling911, which maintains close relations with Tony and other Costa Rican-based gaming figures, says that their sources say that Tony was kidnapped and is being held for ransom. They further suggest that his family was notified by the kidnappers that they needed to pay $750,000 in Bitcoin to ensure his release but haven’t heard from them since. Other outlets claim that the ransom was closer to $1 million but none of these reports are confirmed.
Tony is well known in the online gambling world for his rags-to-riches story that took him from young University of West Virginia graduate to the heights of power in the offshore online gambling world. CAP and the rest of the online gambling media are hoping for his swift and safe return.
