As the Canadian provinces of Quebec and British Columbia continue to roll out improvements and expansions to their state-regulated online gambling systems, more Canadian provinces look to get in on the action.
Per the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC), the Atlantic Lottery Corp is considering expanding its online gambling operations to New Brunswick, if that province’s government approves the plan.
“The Atlantic corporation worked with its counterparts in British Columbia and Quebec to launch online gambling websites in those provinces,” according to Atlantic Lottery Corp President and CEO Michelle Carinci in the CBC article.
Currently, New Brunswick allows Internet bingo, but not poker or other “casino-type games,” as the article puts it.
“Carinci said the needed regulatory changes are ‘not big’ and could be made if the provincial government approved the reforms.”
Not all enthusiasm
Despite this plan, the leaders of neighboring Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island have said they won’t be expanding further into Internet gambling. But of course, that’s likely to change, as politics always do.
