This year's World Series Of Poker (WSOP) Europe tournament is set to begin with a bang tomorrow after Phil Hellmuth announced that he would be making a grand appearance outside The Casino At The Empire in London.
Although the eleven-time WSOP bracelet winner has not revealed what he will do, Hellmuth is well known for his grand appearances and turned up earlier this year for the WSOP tournament in Las Vegas dressed as Julius Caesar. The UltimateBet.com professional was protected by Roman guards and surrounded by muses outfitted only in body paint throwing rose petals.
The over-the-top entrance was in celebration of UltimateBet.com's tenth anniversary as the online poker site invited players to join its empire in Las Vegas and compete for a ten million dollar million main event bonus.
However, Hellmuth doesn't reserve his grand entrances exclusively for Las Vegas and held a look-alike contest last year for the WSOP Europe event. In 2007, he grabbed the media spotlight by touring around London's most famous sights aboard a Hellmuth-branded double-decker bus accompanied by a dozen models.
Potentially one of the tournament's highlights, fans in the UK are being invited to join Hellmuth for his grand entrance at half-past noon on Saturday at the Leicester Square casino. Those unable to attend can still discover what the pro got up to by reading a blog about the event at UltimateBet.com.
