June 26, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Barney Frank’s historic fight to repeal the Unlawful Internet gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 — the UIGEA — is picking up much more support this year than in previous years. Perhaps the best indiciator of this fact is that the latest sponsor to support the bill is a member of the opposing party.
Republican Representative Don Young of Alaska has become the bill’s 35th co-sponsor, reports Casino Gambling Web. That gives the effort an important bipartisan appeal, and represents a strong show of support for the bill, which a year ago was such a long shot.
