Accurately summed up here:
Basically if anyone shared any article from my website, my name comes up in the title field instead of the actual articles’ titles.
Take this article as an example and try plugging it into Google+ to share it:
9 Topics You Should Never Discuss at the Poker Table
Happens with every single article from my site – definitely specific to my domain…
Now don’t get me wrong, I love seeing my name online …. but 100% this is decreasing click-through rates for my site on Google+ and also decreasing likelihood of the post being further shared.
This doesn’t happen on Facebook or Twitter… My site uses WordPress, so I imagine there’s some setting somewhere that I could tweak that’ll fix the problem easily.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated… preferably please if it’s in layperson’s terms – I’m not a coder or programmer…
Thanks guys…. let’s go CAP!
October 16, 2013 at 6:56 pm #834966hendermaryMemberHm – I guess this really stumped you all?
Surprising to go 12 hours without a single reply…
Did I make the issue clear enough? Anyone with a potential recommendation or a tweak I could try?
October 17, 2013 at 8:50 pm #834994hendermaryMemberNobody? I’m stunned…
Moderators – maybe you could try and boost/promote this thread so more community members could see it?
As mentioned in the original post, I sure could use some help and advice please…
October 17, 2013 at 11:49 pm #834998seedingltdMemberI believe the problem to be in the way your plugin or what ever your using to add rich snippets needs to be set to say that this post is an ARTICLE not a PERSON. All you have to do is set the rdfa-node : property type : article (not person).
It took me about 1 hour solid to figure this one out lol. Am I right?
Google Structured Data Testing Tool << scroll to the very bottom and you will see.
October 31, 2013 at 4:10 pm #835133seedingltdMemberIt’s a little disappointing when you spend time helping someone who even asked for it to be bumped and they don’t ever check back.

November 1, 2013 at 7:25 am #835136hendermaryMemberHoly **** I’m SO SO sorry – I never got a notification of your previous message! And I’ve never checked back here at the forums since then…
You can’t imagine how crappy I feel right now – please accept my sincere and public apologies.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out with this. I’ll be honest that I’m not sure I understand what to do 100% – I’m not a programmer or a WordPress/plug-in expert, but I’ll pass this on to an expert friend of mine who can hopefully figure it out.
Again my most sincere thanks and sorry…. I really just never saw this… lucky I got an email notification of your message when I just woke up this morning… for some reason it landed in my Spam.
November 1, 2013 at 6:19 pm #835137seedingltdMemberHeyhey NO Worries!
I figured the bump would get your attention but no need to apologize.
I selfishly want to know if I was correct haha.
No really want to help but also to explain:
Rich-Snippets and Micro-Formatting are the elements that Google+ will pick up on and alter your listing based on what info is in there.
As you can imagine the first thing that should be disclosed is the type of page, or on page element we are talking about. In this case your whole page is marked “person” not “article”
When something from CAP lands in spam folder, do them a huge favor and un-mark it. That data is used to find out if that are marking the right messages spam I think.
Really hope you get it working right.

:woo-hoo:November 3, 2013 at 6:52 am #835147hendermaryMemberThanks Muffin, and for the more detailed explanation as well. I’ll hopefully be sitting with my friend this evening and we’ll be able to get it working correctly together.
I’ll definitely let you know if/when it works.
And yes, I’ve marked it as “NOT SPAM”
Regards and thank you again,
Robbie

:woo-hoo:November 18, 2013 at 7:40 am #835231hendermaryMemberJust an update – my friend has sat to try and help me work on this issue a couple times – I’ve shown him this thread and Muffin’s proposed solution. He says there’s a specific thorny problem “embedded in my site’s theme’s code”. I don’t really want to change the theme (which would probably solve the problem), so he was kind enough to try and scour the code to try and find the problem. He’s doing this for me as a favor (cuz I dunno how to do it myself), so it’s only when he has free time. Hopefully he’ll be able to find the needle in the haystack soon. And, as promised, I will update when fixed.
November 18, 2013 at 6:42 pm #835235seedingltdMemberI have a proposed solution that will be fast and probably work. Install the plugin WordPress ? WP Social SEO Booster – Knowledge Graph Social Signals SEO « WordPress Plugins and set your meta data the right way. It should over ride any of your themes issues as well as give you some neat options. Anyone who likes social media should use this in my opinion. I was keeping it to myself…
Enjoy
November 22, 2013 at 10:12 am #835250hendermaryMemberMay God bless you muffincrumbs with lots of traffic and revenues! It works!
(Now you can all share my site’s articles on Google+ properly )
Thanks to everyone who offered assistance and viewed this thread – your support was much appreciated.
Have a great weekend,
