I was just thinking about the word “amazing” and how overused it’s become.
“It’s amazing.” “You’re amazing.” “My dinner was amazing.” Its overuse sort of takes away from the meaningfulness and power of the word, no?
Some other words I think have lost their significance from ubiquity? “Gorgeous,” “passionate,” “guru,” and “viral.”
What do you think? Any phrases you’re just sick of, or ones that have lost their luster???

August 15, 2013 at 5:36 pm #834407voodoomanMemberWhen a new Hollywood movie is released and the advertising promos have interviews of the main actors. They then proceed to kiss-arse by over complementing each other. The one phrase that irritates the sh1t out of me is something like “He is such an amazing person who has really mastered his craft”. Urgh!

I almost typed, “Seriously dying over here…” before I realized “seriously” and “dying” are also SO OVER.

I think “awesome” is pretty done as well. I use that word all the time and I need to quit it fast!
