MemberHey Guys,
I was wondering how long it usually takes to get a new page indexed. In my Webmaster tools it says a couple more pages submitted than indexed. So I guess google hasn’t go to the new pages yet?
Also in my sitemap I have 2 more pages than are indexed, why would that be?
Also what’s the best way to get a new page indexed quickly? Is fetching as google in Webmaster tools a good idea?
Appreciate the feedback.
Thanks!

MemberTo see what pages you have indexed, use the operator:-
site:www . example . com
That will list them in Google.
The best way to get pages indexed is by having a link on another site that is crawled/cached frequently.

MemberShould I resubmit my sitemap? Does that help?

MemberIf you have an active Twitter account, you could place a link in a tweet. I find that usually does the trick for me.
And no, if you have already submitted the sitemap, then just leave it. Submitting another will delay the process if anything because it will have to start again.

MemberI don’t have twitter unfortunately.
How often does google search my sitemap? once a week?

MemberHow many URLs are in your sitemap? I ask that because if it’s a huge amount, then it will take longer for Google to go through them as they try to save your bandwidth.
It also depends on many factors. It can take a few minutes to a few months. There is no set time.
There is also no guarantee that Google will index all of the pages/URLs, but make sure all your new pages are in your sitemap.
If you need your pages indexed fast, it might be worth guest posting on another blog that is in your niche but before you hand over money, check when the blog/site was last cached.

MemberSo it was only two days ago that it was processed.
Give it a week. If happens, let me know and I might be able to help

MemberWhat does processed actually mean?
Sorry so many questions

MemberProcessed means it is on its way to the index. The index means it is actually listed on a SERP. (Search Engine Results Page). Just because Google crawled it and now they should know what it contains, they now will use their algorithms to rank where it will appear.
When my site was young it would take weeks to see a page listed. Now it takes only a couple of hours and the new article jumps to page 3 or sometimes higher. You can speed the process up by using the “fetch as Google” tool one time in your Webmaster tools, but as Venom said nothing is better than a relevant link on a quality page.

MemberI used fetch for google on 1 of my pages already, that was about 1 week ago. Is it bad to use fetch as google too often?
If I was to get a link on another site, would it go directly to this new page or better to go to my index page?

MemberQuick question: In my sitemap I have 37 links, but in webmaster tools it says only 35 submitted and 32 indexed.
How often will google search my sitemap and add the new pages?
Thanks

MemberI think it is safe to say that it would say “pending”. When I was new I would worry my sitemap and now that I am sure Yoast does it automatically, I have not thought about it since. You do know that you can rank a site with no problem while never having a site map. In fact I would speculate that it is only useful if your menu structure is not user friendly or written heavily in Java, making it hard to understand to spiders.
Focus on getting quality content up and gaining links to it from natural sources, like social media.
