Hi CAP users,
I am new to this lucrative business. So far in my first month I have had some success, and reached several goals already. However, I am always striving to improve. Here are a few questions where I want your experienced answers:
1. I have been approached by a guy who wants to exchange links, and I have no experience with this. For example:
- Where do I place those links (I have a blogspot blog)
- I know about link building but how do I know if it is a fair trade? Alexa rank? Google Rank? What if someone is trying to fool me, I guess they could take away the link later?
- Does it matter what kind of site it is? In this case it is a gambling directory which has better alexa ranking than me but lower page rank.
Some advice on this topic would be nice.
2. Then I want to know if someone has experience with affiliate programs where you win money when the player win money…is it worth it? It is for a site where they have equal odds games and you get 5% of the player winnings every time session ends. So it does not affect me if the player is losing.
I have had a depositor but he lost 50$ in 7 minutes, so no money for me . But if he had played for another affiliate program where I get like 25% of the lost money I would have made money.
So which affiliate strategy is the best in this case. I only promote equal odds games so far.
3. The last question is about US Players. I want to expand my affiliate business to my many US visitors. I have found an affiliate program called “Affiliate Edge” which is supposed to have casinos for US Players. Is this the best program for US Casino Players? Which casino would you recommend…I am a promoter for roulette primarily.

in reverse answers (3) not too sure about us I focus on uk – it is a bit unusual to have an aff program that is based off player winnings. I would say you want it the other way as if people made money through the casinos then they would not be in business or so the old saying goe.s. other people on here my disagree but the is IMHO.
1) link exchange is a tough call, you can look at alexa rankings as well as google pr however I personally try to steer away from link exchanges as I don’t want to have ap,a effort all shared links for fear that google might see me as being spammy.
Good lluck

I would always choose a rev share program, but with your business it might be better to choose the model you mention.
Finally, AffiliateEdge is a good choise for your US and international players!

October 23, 2012 at 3:00 am #829178gokkenMemberPersonally I wouldn’t risk it given, Google is still going through one of its biggest shake ups to date. Put it this was, how much work have you invested into you site? Are you willing to risk all this hard work. I know I wouldn’t. While it’s a tough game this industry, if you put in the hard yards success will reward you.
Just keep working on your site, day in day out, add fresh content and don’t be bother worrying about buying into everyone’s opinion on SEO etc etc. Follow Google’s recommendations. Try to avoid stuffing too many banners and promotions on your site, especially above the fold. Be mindful of what your doing.
Don’t try to run before you can crawl

October 23, 2012 at 8:51 am #829189funalice2003MemberHi Tomand,
Usually the affiliate programs share the revenues, this means, you earn money when the player is loosing. The other way is quite unusual and to tell you the truth, I didn’t hear about that before and doesn’t sound so good.
October 23, 2012 at 4:07 pm #829204AnonymousInactiveBottom Line:
Income – Anyone that gambles will lose money. Short term, long term or both. Affiliate income based on % of player losses is better overall.
Links – It is a new world. Do not buy them or sell them. Only trade them if you know the person.
USA Affiliate program – Since you brought it up first, Affiliate Edge is OK. Start with one prgram. If you ‘get along’ stay with them. But be ready to change at a moments notice if you need to change links due to industry or program changes (like moving into or out of markets, code system changes updates etc.). Add more later if you want to once you know more.
SEO Google – Play fair and hope to be treated the same.
Good Luck!
October 25, 2012 at 9:02 am #829272MALINGAMemberThanks everyone for your great insights!
I really work hard every day to learn new things, and make the site better. It is an endless journey, and a fun one.
I am now affiliated with the above mentioned program, and are looking forward to see how it turns out.
Since my site targets fair play, meaning equal odds games i.e. no zero in roulette for example it would feel weird to have casinos on the site that does not offer that (even though the affiliate deal is better). As it is now only two casinos offer this. In Casino A you get 25% of player losses, in the other Casino B you get 5% of player winnings each time a session ends (but if he/she loses it does not take away money). The thing is that in Casino A you have to download a client to play. The other casino offers instant play as well as other good things. It makes Casino B easier to promote, and get people to sign up to.
I guess I just have to experince if it is worth having this special affiliate deal as Casino B offers. I feel it is better to say to readers that these are the only two casinos in the world.
offering you equal odds roulette, pick what you want. Then saying this is the one casino for you.To continue the discussion it would be interesting to know how you approach image vs text links. I have used both, and image links gives better click trough rate. But when I researched this by googling, people are talking about “Banner blindness”. Have you noticed this? Is there a best practice here? I try to make the images blend in, but at the same time stand out if that makes sense. So that it doesn’t look like adverts, but more like a part of the site. Also, are there a specific button color that’s better for CTR. Now I have red buttons, which gets peoples attention. But maybe people are more prone to click green buttons?
Also, I would appreciate good tips on things like casino landing pages to use to get more conversions. Is it bad to link directly to sign up page for example? I have messaged my affiliate manager to see if we can work out a custom landing page that suits me. Is this a valid suggestion? What are your experinece when people need to download a client in order to play? I see it as an obstacle, and that people don’t trust downloading files.
To summarize questions:
– Image vs text links: “Banner blindness”, your experience?
– Casino landing pages that converts the most? Asking for custom landing pages ok?
Linking directly to sign up page good/bad?
– Being an affiliate to a Casino where customer needs to download client good/bad?Love to hear your thoughts on this,
Tommy

IIMHO that’s one of the most important pieces of advice in today’s climate. Kinda like the Boy Scouts Motto, “Be Prepared”!
Going on the above, I’ll add, I prefer feeding my own banners but with promos changing so much, if possible, pull the banners from the aff program. It’s a PITA running around updating banners, this way, the program does it automatically for you.
Cheers
