so many have probably been hit by the penguin and EMD updates.

Did anyone ever find a way to recover from the inital Penguin update? Their was talk about a redirect but i think it was a no go because the new domain got affected.

I feel it may be a waste of time trying to salvage a site affected. What do you guys think? Its hard to let the site go but feels like google is just dropping them more and more with every update.

I have a few old domain about 10 years old that are neutral. Should i just develop them instead?

I think it going to kill alot of us.

Matt Cutts, the head of search spam at Google, said “you don’t want the next Penguin update.” He warned that the Google “engineers have been working hard,” on this update.
He even added the next few updates will be “jarring and jolting” for webmasters and SEOs.

and this was back in mid August !

I’ve never seen a warning like this before from Google. It makes it sound like the Penguin update will be felt by many many more SEOs. Our initial poll said about 65% of SEOs were hurt by Penguin – why so many more than Panda which was 40%? Well, this is aim more at SEO techniques despite what Google wants to say otherwise.

I think what your going to see is more paid spots on 1st page – and less free spots.

    – google needs to cash in and collect more revenue.

Eventually i see it becoming a paid directory exclusively over a course of years.

Get ready to pay $10-$50 per click

It’s really sad to see that G has developed into a money-grabbing search engine.

Just wanted to bring up this discussion again…

Anyone else feel the pain from Google’s EMD update? How about the latest Penguin 3.0 release? What’s the pulse on how iGaming sites are doing?

I lost a non Gaming Site to emd ! It was a 1 page Copied site from my other EMD :shots:
I will keep it as it ranks just under my other EMD with the other SE’s

With Penguin 3.0 I gained serps with most sites .I guess Google does Like no link building !

Got screwed on a newer site I’ve been putting loads of time into. Went from #8 for the main EMD keyword to god knows where. It also took all the long tail keywords using it with it.

Back to the drawing board for me I guess

Everyone hammers link building, social media etc etc but to be honest I’ve never bothered with active link building strategies or social media to any extent. Except back in the early days when PR actually meant something. Lack of 1WLB’s certainly hasn’t affected my SERPS or placed a dampener on my earning potential.

Where I kick ass, is literally 1000’s upon 1000’s of monthly long tails (unique hits) which are highly targeted, in turn, these produce numerous spot #1 positions. To get these working for you, you site has to have longivity. I think most webmasters/affiliate get too caught up in hype and what others are doing, instead of just plodding along doing their own thing and being mindful of producing quality content, etc etc.

Edit: Wanted to add, a site can get 1,000+ unique a day but if that traffic isn’t highly targeted then your conversion ratios from sign-up to FTD is going to be low. One of my larger site produces on average 250 unique a day. Depending on the casino, FTD ratios average around 40% or more.

Just some food for thought ;)

    Cheers

    Dave
