"Approval Required" Bug

    When I signed up, after clicking on the email confirmation link, the page displayed a message something to the effect of “Thanks for signing up, a moderator will have to approve your account before you get started. This is usually done within 24 hours. You will receive an email when your account is approved.”

    Instead of posting right away, I sat for a while and waited for that email which never came. Then I tried logging in and making a post, and sure enough it was successful.

    So either approval isn’t really required, or an email isn’t sent when approval is granted. Either way, you may lose a poster here and there who thinks he doesn’t have permission to post when he actually does.

    Thanks for the post Pat. The accounts are indeed approved manually for those who register once they click the e-mail confirmation link. However, your second point about the e-mail not going through once they are approved is accurate. We’ve had an issue with mails not being sent out 100% of the time as they should, and we’re currently looking into a forum upgrade and other tweaks to get this resolved

    Yeah, I noticed the same thing with other forums when I was going through my ‘forum sign up’ phase before settling into a permanent forum home.

    But with important primary industry leaders like CAP, I would always immediately hightlight them, bookmark ’em and make it a point to go back and try and login.

    Glad you joined and stuck with it. That’s how we succeed isn’t it!

    So far I’m glad. I’ve tried four different affiliate forums. This is the only one I feel welcomed in.
