I’ve taken on a side project and need some help in the SEO department on my own. I’m familiar with SEOmoz and Raven’s Tools- they’re both actually really great. I just want to make sure that I’m not missing any must-have SEO products/tools.

Is there anything out there that I absolutely should be working with?

Just wanted to share the following:

    Best SEO Tools In 2011

Do you think there’s anything missing from this list?

Do not do any artificial work. Do not buy any paid link with your KW. Rather write unique content regularly and offer usefull information on your site. Google will do the rest…

Excellent advice… Hence “Content is King”

What else do you think are the biggest “must-haves” for your SEO Plan?

Well Meta Description, Meta Keywords and Anchor Text are too pretty much important as far as SEO concern.

Absolutely… however, do you have any tools or solutions that help you manage these?

Interesting… I’ve heard both directions on this. Why do air on the side that they are not important?

Yea, that is changing. My understanding on that one is Title and Discription and still a factor, but the keyword tags are pretty much either out or on their way out. I, however will continue to do all 3 including my keyword tags. I mean, how much effert is involved in putting them in there so why chance it. It’s kindda like bacon and eggs, but in the day they were good for you, then they wernt, now I read they may not be as bad as once thought and in moderation they can be good for you. Not sure on my analogy, but thats what came to my mind.

Speaking of keywords, I have noticed the keywords on the bottom of my pages (Home Page) are being picked up more than in the past. I dont know if I am just noticing it more, or if the SE’s are picking them up more. In either case I am going to try it out on a few more pages.

That’s not 100% true. In regards to Google, you are correct. But Yahoo/Bing still uses keywords so why throw that traffic away by not adding them?

I just had a look over the 2011 tools and I’m wondering if anyone has used SE Nuke and your thoughts on it. Also wondering if it works on Macs Thanks

An interesting discussion on the use of keywords and metatags.

I took a look at the SEOmoz site and read their free “Beginner’s Guide to SEO”.
They cover the keywords meta tag issue.

I knew most of it already, but their explanation of how the ‘description’ isn’t used in rankings was quite revealing.
( It is valuable to you because the end user will see it in your listing in google)
(I think I got that right anyway)

Too bad they did not respond immediately to my affiliate signup form.
It asked for my contact info but not my website – then they replied ‘they’ll review my application?
(what are they going to do – search the web for my name and then WOW me what they found out?)

You definitely want to look into Majestic SEO as links are still King in SEO. It’s one of the best tools out there to track link building and analyze competitors.

Upon everyones (good) advice I went to Majestic SEO

    Majestic SEO == COOL
    It is indeed slick.

Got good news for one of my sites with the ‘Backlink History’ even with the free registration. Then I got bad news for another site, and then a disturbing trend for another site. I haven’t done much more exploring, watching or reading yet on their site yet – but I definitely will.

I then went to “market samurai”.
I love the “SEO Competition Analysis”, I wish had seen this before I created my sites.

Coincidentally, when I clicked on a ‘detail’ tab I was brought back to Majestic SEO.
Other detail tabs brings you domaintools, quantcast and alexa.
That site seems to ‘bring all the pieces’ together.
The videos are great and the 40 day trial is FREE.

I am also interested in hearing what anyone has to say about ‘SE Nuke’.
I’ve seen the ads and heard good & bad.
