It should be an affiliate program mantra… Affiliate Partners are the Lifeblood of any Affiliate Program Business.
An ongoing concern across all industries with affiliates is shaving. In most cases, the livelihood of an affiliate depends on the commissions they generate, and there are programs out there that have run rampant in shaving tracking results to cover their bottom line or boost up internal revenues while there are affiliates working tirelessly to produce.
There are some factors that affiliates should look for and pay attention to in order to best protect themselves… Here are 3 Key Factors that all Affiliates should consider in working with Programs.
How You Can Protect Your Affiliate Earnings from ShavingAny affiliates experienced major issues with shaved commissions? Any tips on what you’ve done to resolve things and/or prevent shaving from happening again?

– Player becomes “inactive” in your stats – this could be just normal behavior of a player stopping to play, you just don’t know.
– Traffic you send never shows up in the stats – if the player never tracked through but signed up, and was untagged on purpose, you wouldn’t know that the player was missed.
– Player untagged because it could cost the program a lot of money… eg player deposited $100 one month and built a balance of $30K which they took over into a new month and then proceeded to lose all that money back to the casino. And at 30% as an affiliate we’d get ~10K while the casino just lost $9900 on that player on a $100 deposit.
For me, I want to go with a program I can trust, who have been around. I want to be able to look someone from that company in the eye, shake their hand, have a drink or meal and get the vibes from them. I think I am a good judge of character – but then I have made mistakes before.
Saying all that.. I’ve worked for 5 affiliate programs, and I don’t know one program that shaved. Although.. I did suspect one software provider for shaving their licensees. eg a casino being shaved by the software provider.

It is not so much the super affiliates that are being shaved but rather the medium type affiliates that get affected the most. One only has to look around on the forums and look at specific programs as there are many ways to shave.
I know myself – I have developed a core of really trusted webmasters and we are testing programs as we speak all the time. Were not going to lay down and let it happen I certainly can tell you that.
In the older days usually these things were sorted privately and deals were made and pay offs done to keep things under the carpet. Those days are gone. Public scrutiny is the way to handle it now!
Expect to see some really juicy proofs coming out soon

Why not start up a official network with affiliates (with some certification/badge..) that do what GFPC and his network does? A network that monitors and makes some spot checks on different programs every now and then in order to assure that the program is fair and not shaving its affiliates. The programs have to be aware that we do not tolerate this and that if they do it their shaving will be exposed to the affiliate community.
GFPC, I look forward to your proofs

Excellent insight, GFPC… And bring on the proofs. Especially in a community, we need to protect one another- so for folks out there that should not be trusted, then we should all be aware.
