Search Engine Optimization is by far the most popular educational topic among the vast majority of affiliates in our community. Across all spans as well- affiliates just starting out in the iGaming space as well as those who have been in it for years and years.
As most of you know, the term “gambling” can be a loaded gun in the world of SEO due to the restraints for high-authority government sites. But… there are some pretty incredible sites in our industry that have been able to pave the road to success in online gambling SEO marketing efforts. Check-out who we’ve deemed as SEO all stars to get some great info and inspiration.

I remember talking to him at a conference.. he took a risk trying to get a hold of it, and I remember thinking to myself, the guy is smart and has balls.
Great guy if you can get a hold of him to an interview *nudge nudge*

Haha Rak, Yeah you know I grew up with Rastas. When i was a teen I lived with a family that were all Rasta for a year or so I lived in an area where my school was 80% Jamaican more or less..So it kind of rubbed off on me. They used to call me “White Dread”..
I used to wear the dangling belt with the baggy pants!! – Its funny huh?
I still love the music – ole school stuff like Tosh, Marley, Yellow Mun (favorite) Gregory Isaccs and some others. Love Reggae so much with a big spliff LOL.
Anyways yeah were getting there -I have been struggling for 4 years at this The first three were just a waste of time – haha.

Just curious… you really think the 1st 3 were a waste of time? Or was it “Trial by Fire” to get you to the next level?

Well it sort of feels like 3 years were a waste, but essentially they were needed to penetrate my learning curve. The thing is I was told several times by a “Super Affiliate” to do things a certain way and drop certain things. It tool three years to take his advice! Still a long way to go though. It also sure was trial and error – some things click and some do not. Confident in 2012 it will be our year.

I fall into the category of.. “oh something new and shiny… stop everything else I was doing”
But in gambling, something new and shiny comes around every month. The last 12 months… has been head down and focus. Do it properly, marketing budget, commitment, hiring the right people. Its a risk, but a well worth while one.

Thanks for sharing your story… And I can’t tell you how often I hear things like this (and not only with affiliates.) It takes a lot of trial by fire to figure out what works and what doesn’t. However, I know you feel like the time has been “a waste” but in the scheme of things it’s not. All of the experimentation leads to experience and will allow you to take you business to the next level. And hooray- looking forward to 2012 being your year
Another question for you- what is it that you were doing that you feel like wasn’t working? And what will you do differently that you feel so confident will work in the new year?

Rak… I totally have the “Shiny Ball Syndrome.” (It is an acclaimed syndrome you know- I Think You Might Have Shiny Ball Syndrome) So that’s why internet marketing is such a great avenue for us- there’s always something new happening… And it is a double edged sword.
You’re taking the right approach to stay focused, solidify the goals that you need to go after, and then go down that. It’s a lot harder than it sounds, but so worth it!

I agree with you, it is a bit of a waste.. I went through the same thing, and really I think there are other avenues I should have looked at to get that learning curve and thought process into me in 3-6 months.
Trying things out really became an expensive exercise in time and money, and at the end of some of these I might have learned every little other then “that didnt work”
October 29, 2011 at 3:41 am #819232turbooddsMemberI can tell you first off what did work and some of what did not work.
Many of you may know Graeme – aka Dealer Dan? Couple of years ago I asked him for some advice and the advice he gave me at the time I did not listen to. LOL – of course it took me another 6 months thinking about what he said and ditch something I was spending so much time on.
After speaking with him I had motivation to do something a bit different – its to long to get into details, but I can tell any new affiliate this or existing.
READ his Affiliate Bible site – Dealer Dan's Affiliate Bible | An invaluable guide for all gambling affiliates
That is one advice I can share with everyone! If you take the time to read his Bible – along with reading everything offered here at CAP and read the forums listen to people you will gain so much experience..
Just listening to others – who have done it all before you can learn the traps to not get into, and certain things that you should do.
One other thing is time management – stop saying i will do this i will do that. Just do it!
I still have this problem where i say i will do something and i never do it. I am starting to now.
Sometimes just doing it and not thinking about it is the key to success.
One last thing that I stopped doing. Obsessing! Obsessing about what did not work – you know how when something doesn’t work you continue on and on because you think it can? You do the same thing over and over. Its a waste of time.
You have to change something even if its small. Things like CTA button color. Your meta tags.
Do little tweaks to certain pages. And always read your site on google – see how it looks in description. This is an area i am working on now and need huge improvement.
Lets face it you can get traffic easy its converting it that is the hard part.
Make changes slowly to see if results change!

This is genuinely all such valuable advice. Lots of marketing is dependent upon experimentation. Although it may be exhausting, you have to Test, Test, Test. But the biggest thing- TRACK WHAT YOU TEST! And, understanding what your statistics mean.
Also, don’t be afraid to survey your audience. Get to know the people that you’re marketing to and ask them what they’re looking for, and deliver it to them.

Thats me all over! I find now.. I just get it done, one way or the other.. get it completed and out the door. Finding that paying people to make your ideas come to fruition is a great time saver, but can also be a great money waster if your ideas dont pan out. But it gets me moving to the next project.
November 1, 2011 at 8:43 pm #819289rialto.melinaMemberIt has probably already been said but my answer is whoever consistently ranks highest for keywords that have the most value.
and you don’t need pagerank for this obviously.
