hi, me again, must be getting a bit sick of me but, iv been playing around on wordpress.com and its pretty awesome, so i want to download wordpress.org but im wondering because i live in the uk and my site is in pounds and im targeting people in the uk, should i choose to host my site on uk servers, would it make a difference for seo? im looking at hostgator(i know US) because the price seems right and they have wordpress quick installation, can some one give me advice on what hosting i should choose, if i should go with a uk host can anyone recommend a good one
thank youhey, I think as long as the registrant address is in the UK, and the hosting is in the uk, you are more likely to rank better in google.co.uk, then US facing google.com

haha, yeah my mate swears by it and he says the css upgrade pretty much lets you do what ever you want….did you see my post on the last comment you made to me about affiliate links in wordpress.com blogs? what do you think, will i get busted..im gonna get the hosting sorted and get on wordpress.org soon..

u mean hiding affiliate links? nah it doesn’t matter if you don’t hide them.
Eric Enge: If Googlebot sees an affiliate link out there, does it treat that link as an endorsement or an ad?
Matt Cutts: Typically, we want to handle those sorts of links appropriately. A lot of the time, that means that the link is essentially driving people for money, so we usually would not count those as an endorsement.
hey rak, nah i was asking about paying to have an official unique domain name on wordpress.com blog but to use it for affiliate links and links to my other sites, on wordpress.org you can do what ever you like cuz its your hosting i know but wordpress.com say they would close your account, i was asking you if you had heard anything about this and would it be worth a shot or would they stop me right away
I’m not sure if investing the time and effort into it, only to be possibly shut down is the best choice.
Although, you can use the account you create on wordpress.com blog to generate links to your sites. Just make sure your article is ~400 or so words in size, and you keep it to a max of 2 links per article.
If you over do it, it can negatively effect your linkbacks.
Each wordpress.com blog you have, should link to the site once. Don’t create 5 articles on the same blog, and each of the 5 articles point to the same site – as I believe google will only see them as 1 link.

Your blog or site can be read by anyone who has access to the Internet throughout the entire world. So the location of your hosts server does have an impact. So It depends totally where are you looking to target at.

It will also help to build backlinks from sites in the UK, hosted in the UK, that rank in the UK.
