A possible new partnership with Microsoft could be a game-changer in the search engine world. Either way, Bing’s market share is approaching 11% — not a threat to Google, yet, but showing new popularity. Read more at the CAP News page.

For personal searches, I prefer bing. It’s my default now. I love the mouse over text on the right, it’s a lot more efficient.

I, too, prefer Bing over Google, purely for the quality of returned results. I think Google’s Universal results have taken a step backwards, as they have truly put economics ahead of academics, when it comes to returned results.

Not sure if this news is a game changer. Although the WSJ remains a prominent paper, it has not been immune to the overall decline in readership of printed newspapers in the industry as a whole. And Fox News has seen a big decline in advertising revenue over the last couple of years, mainly due to their extremely slanted view of the world, and many prominent advertisers pulling out. I am personally an Independent, and I don’t find their news to be “news”; I find it merely a source of slanted opinion. Given that, and their declining market share, I’m not sure if this news is a real game changer for Microsoft.
