After acknowledging that it isn’t a bit factor, it still helps us exchange links and gives us some idea of how we are doing with big G. So how did you do in this Toolbar PR update?
October 31, 2009 at 5:59 am #805384AletheidesMemberI simply love that fact so many people obsess over PR
November 4, 2009 at 7:45 pm #805516AnonymousInactivePR is fairly worthless, but as you say it does help with exchanging or selling links since there are so many people out there that don’t consider the more important metrics (traffic, rankings, etc.)
That said, our PR is up for our sub-pages which is what we have been working on getting links for over the past several months, so at least it is a measure of some sort of success, but we knew that already since our rankings were improving.
Not that it needs to be said again, but…chasing PR alone is a mistake
November 4, 2009 at 8:26 pm #805518AnonymousInactivePR is not on my radar. SERPS are greatly improved with the latest update though.

November 12, 2009 at 5:43 am #805738AnonymousInactiveCan you make a case that PR is important beyond impressing another webmaster with your PR score?
November 12, 2009 at 1:03 pm #805744innoneMemberI do not know if this question by webber is addressed to me?
The case is very simple to make, assuming you have some mathematical knowledge. Nothing known in the Universe can replace links as a way to rank pages.
November 12, 2009 at 2:09 pm #805745AnonymousInactiveGoogle PR means nothing any more. How you rank in the SERPs means everything. The correlation is quite low between the 2; even Google admits that. I guess it might be a bit of an ego boost, for those that went up.
November 12, 2009 at 3:25 pm #805746winner.comMemberYou know, I always thought PR meant nothing – just because I thought it was a red herring (of a Fiji Mermaid – if you will) put out by Google. All the SEO’s said “get links from high PR pages and you will do well”. I thought F U – original content is king, written in normal non-seo language queen and if you can get 1 real link from a trusted sites NON- RECIPROCAL link page(related or not to your subject matter) is the Ace.
But after this last PR update, my audiobook publishing company’s website jumped up PR and it helped my other sites (that I actually make money with) in site rank, upped the number of hits and in turn the number of new players. Now lets get caffeine rolling so we see where we stand – and then spend countless hours trying to get back to page 1 on Google, just to have Google say, ” We didn’t like caffeine, we will be reverting back to the old indexes.” Where we will spend more countless hours trying to get back to page 1.
So with my logic – PR does matter now – just because Goggle says it doesn’t.
