Sounds like your site might be fairly new (less than a year old). If that’s the case, then it’s a matter of patience and continuing to work on gaining backlinks. It takes quite a long time (think years, not months) to rank for keyword that drive solid traffic.
April 13, 2009 at 8:35 pm #798461sugalanMemberAs POKER is one of the most sought-after keywords EVER, and considering the thousands of poker sites in English that were set up before you, I see 2 ways for you to generate traffic:
1) get more original content and update it quicker than the big poker portals (not very likely…)
2) Catch a niche.
Your meta KWs are pretty generic. Why would Google suggest you over thousands of more experienced sites with the same KWs?
The only way I see a NEW poker affiliate getting organic traffic is by catching long-tail or unique KWs that have little competition. You may need to build new sites for this purpose….
Some examples and variations: “holdem murder”, “Uzbek poker”, “grabbing the nutz” (I should copyright that one), “Omaha domination”…
I’m just making stuff up. To know which KWs to optimize for, you should hit the poker forums and poker operator chats and try to catch popular phrases not used by too many of your competitors.Good luck!

April 17, 2009 at 2:26 pm #798662AnonymousInactivepoker and casino are very competitive keywords.
How about optimzing a site for a niche or less competitive keyword to start?April 20, 2009 at 9:49 am #798739casinoplayers32Memberlivegirl1;202255 wrote:are internal links equally important as back links? and do back links have to embed the keyword at all times or are the http://www.xx.com link equally valuable?i would love the SEO master to answer my question. please? :sarcasm:
April 22, 2009 at 9:22 am #798883serj11MemberI dont know if I am the SEO master but I will definately add some of my thoughts.
Internal backlinks are not as important to Google as external backlinks. That is not to say that internal links aren’t important.
I believe, for the majority of sites, it is fair to think of the differences between internal and external backlinks as follows:
Internal backlinks assist search engines to find and categorise the importance YOU place on a choice of pages within your own site whereas external links define, in an unbiased way, what the true importance of your pages is within the structure of the wider web.
The reality is that within our industry internal links mean little when it comes to ranking well whereas in extremely uncompetitive industries and niches within niches internal backlinks MAY be all that is required, but even then that is a rare occasion and will generally only occur on sites that have mega status / oomph, such as Wikipedia!
May 9, 2009 at 5:00 pm #799531MissMMemberAnother thing, what is the best way to get people to be active on my website for casinos?
