Censorship plan “simply does not work, will significantly slow internet speeds and will block access to legitimate websites”

December 22, 2008 — In an article printed in both the Brisbane Times and the Sydney Morning Herald today, Australian writer Asher Moses offers details about a new report issued by the Australian government, in which the plans to censor the Internet (which included outlawing Internet gambling) is called flawed and “unworkable”.

This could be the opportunity online gaming advocates need to stifle the plan before it begins. Check out the CAP Newswire for the full story.

Tue Dec 15 2009: Internet filter gets green light

The Australian federal government is pushing ahead with its controversial plan to filter the internet, saying illegal material can be blocked “with 100 per cent accuracy and negligible impact on internet speed”.

Senator Conroy said Labor would introduce its draft laws by March, and the filter would start 12 months after they were passed.
