Just noticed something really strange while checking google serp.. I found that my site is listed twice on a specific keyword. Once on page 5 and once on page 7, identical to eachother..
Example:
Searched for: My Domain
Result on page 5:
Title: My Domain
Description: this is my domain
Url: xhttp://www.mydomein.comResult on page 7:
Title: My Domain
Description: this is my domain
Url: xhttp://www.mydomein.comChecked a few hours ago and now, still the same.. ctrl+F5 still the same..
Is this possible (well, it appears it is, but should it) ? And I see potential hurting comming up for duplicate content..
December 12, 2008 at 1:33 am #789943AnonymousInactiveyes, very possible. I see this with our sites – and I’m only ever looking in the first five pages.
Quite often they will be list one immediately after the other as well – almost as if the second page “piggybacks” on the higher rank of the first listed page.
EDIT :
However, I have assumed that you are talknig about different pages on the same domain – in rereading your post – I’m not sure thats what you are seeing?December 12, 2008 at 4:44 am #789949AnonymousInactiveSame page is not possible, it may be that this google update going on, due to that
December 12, 2008 at 11:45 am #789967AnonymousInactiveYes it happens but it’s always two seperate pages. Well – it *should* always be two seperate pages
December 12, 2008 at 11:46 am #789968AnonymousInactiveThings like that happen when G is doing some updates.

One other thing I just noticed .. one of the results has a cache link with it, the other doesn’t have.. (altough exactly the same adress)
Edit: Thanks to Elgoog who showed me a range of results regarding this question.. One was a tiny difference in the domains.. One showing a “/” the other just the domain.. Unfortunatly I the results are back to normal, so I can’t check now..
December 22, 2008 at 1:02 pm #790792AnonymousInactivelol.. I’ve got two results again.. now page 5 and 6 show the same result for one domain.. it’s really strange.. I did found one difference, but noting else..
Domain on page 5 doesn’t have a “cached” link and doesn’t show size.
Domein on page 6 has a “cached” link and shows 66k as size..
I’m just confused..
December 22, 2008 at 2:09 pm #790796voodoomanMemberI sometimes find that if I am still logged into Google Webmaster Tools, when I do a search, I get slightly strange search results.
December 22, 2008 at 3:29 pm #790801AnonymousInactiveyes I already tried logging out, removing google web history and google bookmarks.. still there.. and I’m still without a clue..
December 23, 2008 at 5:22 am #790852voodoomanMemberCould you post a screenshot of this duplicate listing?
December 26, 2008 at 12:27 pm #790989AnonymousInactivePage 5 and Page 6 of google… still strange if you ask me.. (and hurting my ranking I’m thinking)
December 26, 2008 at 3:10 pm #790991neophyteMemberedit:oops nevermind. mis-read the domainname
December 26, 2008 at 10:11 pm #791004AnonymousInactiveI’m thinking the domain on page 5 is some kind of redirected page being indexed or so, because google doesn’t cache it and doesn’t know it’s size.. But no sure yet..
