Joe the Plumber, the star of tonight’s debate, may have a very interesting connection to John McCain. In fact, Joe the Plumber (Joe Wurzelbacher) of Cincinnati, Ohio may be related to one Robert Wurzelbacher of Cincinnati, Ohio, who happens to be Charles Keating’s son-in-law.
Robert Wurzelbacher was implicated in the Keating 5 scandal, and sentenced to 40 months in prison in 1993.
Wurzelbacher is also a huge Republican donor.
So, let’s find out a bit about Joe Wurzelbacher.
BlueGA’s diary :: ::
First, he seems to own a few companies:
#1:Joseph Wurzelbacher (Joseph Wurzelbacher Cnstr Co)
12172 Stone Mill Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45251-4134#2:
JCC INVESTMENTS INC in the Investors, N.E.C. industry in CINCINNATI, OH. This company currently has approximately 1 to 5 employees and annual sales of Under $500,000.
Location Information Edit

Specialties:
REPAIR OF SEPTIC TANKS
Phone: (513) 385-5264Ok, so the first three are all on the same road. The last one, a few minutes away.
Already, I’m a bit suspicious of this guy. He claims to be a plumber looking to buy a small business. Yet, he seems to own quite a few already. Are we sure this guy is middle class?
Now, what about Robert Wurzelbacher?
Well, to start with he’s from Milford, OH, right outside of Cincinnati.
Next, according to Newsmeat, he owns “Cincinnati Dowel & Wood”:
WURZELBACHER, ROBERT M
MILFORD, OH 45150
THE CINCINNATI DOWEL & WOOD PRODUCTAnd where is this company located?
135 Oak St
Mt Orab, OH 45154Which is, you guessed it, right outside of Cincinnati, OH.
And, this company seems to be in a very similar business.
Joe’s a plumber, painter, and all-around home repairman.
I don’t know if this is fact or fiction, but just providing the info.October 16, 2008 at 8:44 pm #782762AnonymousInactiveOctober 16, 2008 · Filed Under 2008 Election, Barack Obama, John McCain
Joe The Plumber, aka Joe Wurzelbacher, the Toledo plumber who became the hot topic of the last Presidential debate due to his rope-line confrontation with Barack Obama’s over the Democratic candidate’s tax plan, may not be a plumber, and may not be planning to buy a plumbing business where he will be netting $250,000 a year.He isn’t in the Toledo Yellow Pages, he isn’t registered to vote and it’s more likely that his existence as a plumber buying a $250K business is as sincere as Sarah Palin asking Joe Biden if she can call him “Joe.”
Isn’t it interesting that Joe is buying a business that is making a profit of exactly $250K, the Obama tax break minimum. If we’re talking a business that is bottom lining at $250K, a standard business acquisition falls into the 4 to 1 investment area, which would call for Joe
is buying a business that is making a profit of exactly $250K, the Obama tax break minimum. A normal business acquisition falls into the 4 to 1 investment area, which would call for Joe to come up with $1,000,000 to purchase his $250K business. If that plumbing business had assets like trucks, equipment and offices, the cost could be far more.
Add to that Wurzelbacher doesn’t appear in the Toledo Yellow Pages listings, yet has been able to put together at least a million to invest, especially in these dire economic times, you begin to wonder whether Joe is a plumber or did someone in the McCain campaign find him in central casting?
Most important, if he is really a plumber, where’ the ass crack?
October 16, 2008 at 8:49 pm #782763AnonymousInactiveIf you watched the third and final presidential debate last night you know that there were many mentions of “Joe the Plumber.” Joe is actually Joe Wurzelbacher, an ‘everyman’ who appeared out of a crowd at an Obama campaign appearance and asked the senator about his economic plan. Joe says his American Dream is being able to provide for his family and send his son to college. But some are saying that Joe isn’t who he appears to be.
Here’s the buzz from the internet:
Wurzelbacher, who says he was playing football outside with his son when he came upon the crowd gathered around Obama, was planted by the Republican party. This would explain how conservative sites got stories posted about him in advance of the debate and how easily everyone else found him for interviews.
Wurzelbacher is not a registered voter.
Wurzelbacher may not be licensed in his home state of Ohio.
Wurzelbacher may be related to Robert Wurzelbacher of Cincinnati, Ohio, who happens to be Charles Keating’s son-in-law. Keating was implicated in the Keating 5 scandal.
Wurzelbacher already owns a few companies, which would contradict his claims of being a plumber looking to buy a small business.(One thing that is on the record: Wurzelbacher compared Obama to Sammy Davis Jr. in an interview with Katie Couric. Ouch.)
So is any of this true? I’m not sure, but some things are suspicious. For instance, how was it that a newspaper was present when Joe was watching the debates (they took the picture above) if Joe didn’t know his name would be mentioned?
I’m sure the National Enquirer is already hot on Wurzelbacher’s trail, so expect to hear more on Joe the Plumber soon. In the meantime, I’d like to get Joe’s number – my bathroom faucet is leaking.
UPDATE: MSNBC has confirmed that Wurzelbacher has no plumbing license.

Update:
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1008/Joes_registration.html
“Joe Wurzelbacher doesn’t immediately turn up in the Ohio voter registration database, leading to some speculation last night that he’s not registered to vote.
But the Toledo Blade reports that he appears to be registered, and a Republican primary voter at that:
Linda Howe, executive director of the Lucas County Board of Elections, said a Samuel Joseph Worzelbacher, whose address and age match Joe the Plumber’s, registered in Lucas County on Sept. 10, 1992. He voted in his first primary on March 4, 2008, registering as a Republican.”October 16, 2008 at 9:06 pm #782768AnonymousInactiveThanks for posting that update Erik!
I’m waiting to see what the McCain camp has to say in the days to come when they are exposed at the ones behind this planting of Joe the Plumber.
McCain aides say there was no heads-up for Joe the Plumber, who’s headed out to the morning shows tomorrow.“Joe didn’t know” that he’d be at the center of the debate,” said Matt McDonald.
“We tried to call him during the debate, but his phone was busy,” he said. “We’re not going to put him through media training.”
So the McCain campaign says they never contacted Joe the Plumber…but they also had his phone number. Now it’s very possible someone in the media gave them his phone number, but if you can find any listing for Joe Wurzelbacher in Holland, Ohio, you’re more industrious than I am.
The last thing that struck me as odd was that when talking with Katie Couric, Joe was totally on message for McCain (except the part where he said that he had already made up his mind on who he was voting for).
Bottom-line: it’s not entirely clear what the real story of Joe The Plumber is. But it is entirely clear that he’s not just some undecided voter. He supports McCain, and the McCain campaign sure seems to support him.
This wouldn’t be a story worth mentioning if the media wasn’t so excited to put him on all the morning shows, but since they are, they have a responsibility to get the story right. So far, there’s little indication that they will.
October 16, 2008 at 9:18 pm #782769AnonymousInactiveOkay, after hearing his interview with Good Morning America I think he is on some BS. :flush:
McCain derserves to lose the race and his ‘hero’ image for allowing this type of scam to happen. He certain make Joe the Plumber famous!

He himself sais in the interview that McPalin invited to one of their rallys before this interview and that seems odd because his phone number is NOT REGISTERED in that are.
October 16, 2008 at 9:58 pm #782774AnonymousInactivehey maybe Carl Rove is back in the game.
October 16, 2008 at 10:01 pm #782776AnonymousInactiveIn this dialogue it all doesn’t become very clear what Joe is on about. He said the business “is making 250k”. Now does that mean profit or revenues? And if it is profit the business that he wants to buy as a sole plumber would probably be another one man plumber show. If that was the case then he would have to be heck of a plumber to turn over enough on his own to make $250k in profits.
October 16, 2008 at 11:08 pm #782785vladcizsolMemberIf McSame just had Joe unclog all the shit in his mansions each week that could explain the $250K.
Wonder if they will put a wig on him and rebrand him Jim the Roofer at Obama’s next campaign stop.
October 17, 2008 at 1:41 am #782798AnonymousInactiveSaw Joe on TV. I don’t know that he’s not just a guy who tried to ask a tough question. He said today, that he would likely get a bigger tax cut under obama and that he’s not really ready to buy the business…etc.
I think joe might have had 15 minutes of fame he might not wanted. He certainly didn’t seem to be ready for a driveway full of reporters this morning.
October 21, 2008 at 10:39 pm #783435AnonymousInactiveWernt there more Democrats in that Keating Scandel then Republicans and I think Mcain was cleared. I almost positive there were more Democrates involved in that .

Yep, there sure was. I think the point was to show that we all have associations with folks that we may regret.
BTW I feel that there are good and bad folks in both parties and though I’m a Democrat I do not feel that every DEM is doing a good job, but I feel thier beliefs are more in line with mine as a whole.
October 22, 2008 at 12:38 am #783457AnonymousInactiveI have to say I feel sorry for the guy. He asked a simple question. He was probably pissed off at his tax situation and he didn’t like the idea of paying more (of which none of us do). I think he asked the question in a pretty respectable way. In all of his interviews hes come across as a decent guy. I just think its silly how the media is digging in his past and tearing this guy a new hole in the ________ for not doing anything wrong.
So what he owes some taxes for last year and he might not be earning 6 figures as some plumbers do. It doesn’t make him any less of a person.
October 22, 2008 at 1:22 am #783462AnonymousInactiveMy problem with the guy is that he lied and said that he was UNDECIDED when he was not. If he would have not tried to play that game than I would feel differently.
He was on FAUX NEWS talking pleny crap and I’m glad that he was exposed.
