I run a small gaming affiliate site and the poker site 888.com wants some text links on my home page. Is it ok to link them? or will the links be frowned upon by Google effecting my search position? It has come up as a Bad Neighborhood link on my page when I run a Bad Neighborhood link checker
I would be greatful for any adviceAugust 18, 2008 at 3:12 pm #775959AnonymousInactiveAny site thats 3rd place for the word “Casino” in google and has been there for ages (no black hat there) is probably a pretty good neighborhood.

I disagree ,Yes they are #3 but i am pretty sure that google is noticing the groups that give them non affiliate links.I know another guy who lost 77 websites selling links to party partners.although they paid top dollar and demanded they are only text links on the homepage ,he got nailed last update. He didnt take a financial loss as they are generous to him on the fees but it determined that he wont deal with them anymore.
I expect it is only matter of time before google will crack down on those with deep pockets who buy so many links.August 18, 2008 at 5:50 pm #775977neophyteMember@Calais97 172731 wrote:

August 18, 2008 at 11:25 pm #776003ianuk11MemberOk, so 888 may not be bad neighborhood but is it be safe to have 3 888.com paid links on the home page? Or would it be better (in respect to Google) to leave the links off?
August 19, 2008 at 12:31 am #776008biggygMemberi wouldnt give anyone homepage links if you are making nice money on your casino site now.if it is a dead site with zero or close to zero income take the money.
August 19, 2008 at 11:12 am #776080AnonymousInactiveI have seen lots of 888.com paid posts on blog websites, with direct links, all of those websites have 0 PR because of the pay-per-post blog entries.
I was surprised to see a casino contracting pay-per-post services in order to have people to blog about them (usually for $5 or less – “great” advertising fee if you ask me heh).
It was around that time when they changed their T&C, so no wonder why they want direct traffic instead of affiliate generated one.
