An update on this year’s WSOP Europe, from the CAP News page:
Casino at the Empire to Host 2008 WSOP Europe: London’s Leicester Square casino a convenient and accessible location
August 5, 2008 (InfoPowa News) — The 2008 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) has announced that it will be hosting this major event under one roof at the Casino at the Empire, LCI’s newest club in the heart of London on Leicester Square.
Running September 19 through October 2, 2008, the tournament will feature four bracelet events, commencing with an exciting new GBP 1,500 No-Limit event that is expected to draw a major entry field.
Cash games, satellites and non-bracelet tournaments, in addition to other casino games, will be available at the casino and other London Clubs International (LCI) locations, but the major events schedule looks like this:
September 19th 2008 – Event 1 – GBP 1,500 – No-Limit Hold’em Day 1A (3-day event/2 opening days)
September 22nd 2008 – Event 2 – GBP 2,500 – H.O.R.S.E. (3-day event)
September 24th 2008 – Event 3 – GBP 5,000 – Pot Limit Omaha (3-day event)
September 27th 2008 – Event 4 – GBP 10,000 – World Championship No-Limit Hold’em (5-day event)Full details of the schedule can be folund at http://www.wsope2008.com.
Ty Stewart, World Series of Poker Director of Marketing said: “We are eagerly anticipating World Series of Poker Europe this year. We have enhanced the schedule to provide more variety and game play, greatly broadened the worldwide television exposure and have brought the event under one roof to better the player experience for this prestigious and premiere event.”
It is believed that the nine final tablers from the 39th World Series of Poker held at Harrah’s in Las Vegas recently will be playing in the European version of the poker spectacular, a useful warm-up for their final multi-million dollar confrontation back in Vegas in November this year. Winning both WSOPs would be a unique and rewarding addition to a player’s track record, and the incentive is therefore considerable.
