August 11, 2008 (InfoPowa News) — Poker Stars.com is heading for the islands again early next year with a reprise of its popular Caribbean Adventure tourney, scheduled for January 4, 2009 at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas.
The event will form part of the company’s European Poker Tour despite its different geographic region, presumably for organization and administration reasons.
Last year’s Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure attracted over a thousand pokerheads and generated a significant prize pool of over $8.5 million. It also pulled in many of the big names in international poker, and the giant prize pool should achieve that again for the current edition.
Pokerstars has also announced an additional European Poker Tour stop in Budapest, Hungary. This will be a Euro 4,350 buy-in, four-day No Limit Texas Hold’em for a maximum of 500 players, and the venue is the city’s Las Vegas Casino in the Sofitel Hotel on October 28 through November 1 2008. The new addition brings the number of EPT stops up to 10.
Making things easier, and maybe cheaper for would-be EPT travelers, the site has opened EPT Hotels.com, a facility where players will find hotel booking discounts and services.
Adding to the poker buzz created in London this year by Poker in the Park and the WSOP Europe tournament, Poker Stars’ EPT London stop will feature a special high rollers event — again NLHE — on October 5 – 6 branded the “PokerStars EPT 1 Million Pound Showdown.”
This one is strictly for the well-heeled with a buy-in of GBP 20,000 + GBP300, but the prize pool will be a biggie, and there will be online qualifiers at the main website.
