    How effective has the ban on financial transactions been?

    How effective has the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act been? seems to be the question that broadcaster CNBC is asking this week.

    In an article on Internet gambling, writer Darren Rovell noted that it’s easy enough to bet online. But collecting your winnings isn’t a sure thing.

    Years ago, Rovell wrote that the government was never going to stop online gambling run by companies with fifteen different names in countries outside the United States. His view has changed, and he wrote this week that the U.S. government was coming closer to halting the pastime by effectively crippling Internet online gambling payment systems.

    “First, it became hard to get your money to the online books,” Rovell explains. “The credit cards bowed out. Next was Paypal. Then went Neteller and Firepay.”

    Rovell zeros in on Zip Payments as an example, claiming that player message boards have been “lighting up” with complaints about no or slow payment and bounced cheques. When he tried to obtain a comment from Zip Payments there was no response – his call went to a message service and was not returned.

    Bodog is examined, too. Rovell says that complaints about Bodog’s sportsbook activities include the firm telling its clients that instead of the five to 10 business days to withdraw their money, it will take closer to 40 business days. Once again, obtaining a company perspective proved impossible when calls placed to Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, which owns the North American license for Bodog, were not returned.

    Rovell is intrigued by how pervasive the payment problem has become, and he invites Internet gamblers who have received rubber cheques or have been told that payment would take more than a month, to share their stories by emailing [email protected] .

    All e-mails must include full name details of the incident. Names and identification of any sort will not be used in the story.

    CNBC is almost a propaganda channel for the great capitalist dream these days – and during the financial crisis their pithy “in-depth” reporting on the scale and extent of the problems have sounded like reworded press releases from the Fed and other regulators.

    The amount of unpayable debt still floating around the US corporate scene is horrible – yet the Fed offers to soak it up and is literally printing half a trillion extra US dollars to cover it all.

    Want to know why there is inflation in any commodity that is measured in US dollars? It’s simply because with so much extra cash being pushed into circulation each US dollar is worth less.

    It’s not so much that items are skyrocketting up – but the US dollar is crashing – but you will not find any mention of that every on CNBC.

    Now it looks like the Feds want to use their pet publicity machine to scare players into thinking that they’ll never get paid if they win …

    The US badly needs an independant media voice.

    Yeah I had a problem with a Zip Payment check this month, I never noticed anyone else here was having problems as well. I guess I’ll have to look around and read up on what happen with them.

    But as far as the CNBC BS, I rarely ever get any complaints from any of my players about not being paid. We have more more important problems with this country then wasting time worrying about that!

    I have had recent complaints about checks bouncing, and personally have more checks I can’t cash and affiliate earnings taken due to the same, I personally have to say there has been an effect! I live in a very rural area where each transaction is checked, and may be huge to blame, regardless, I feel there is a direct effect to online gambling, my earnings have also shown it.

    The US badly needs an independant media voice.

    They are out there, and you are right. But more importantly, Americans need to TUNE IN to some of the independent media voices out there.

    What we really need is a 24hr independent media voice (like CNN) so that we have time to actually cover a larger spectrum.

    We have something called “Free Speech TV” which is 9415 on direct TV, and I think Link TV is 9410….. we don’t watch TV anymore, just Democracynow.org (on the internet) …

    Things like DemocracyNow.org are only 1 hour long and it’s impossible to cover the world’s events (humanitarian, political, economics, environment, war, peace, etc.) in only one hour – it’s simply to large a world to fit the news in one hour.

    Besides before American’s can decipher the news, most of them need a history lesson, no? (me included of course)

    I deal mostly with sports books and I haven’t had any problems yet – KNOCK ON WOOD! I suggest that you deal wth A to A+ programs only.
